About Me

Eden Artigues (they/he)

Eden is a multi-hyphenate professional who works as a peer support worker, writer, abortion doula, coach, sex educator, speaker, advice columnist, consultant, and community organizer. Using their lived and professional experiences, he supports individuals, those in relationships, and larger organizational systems, as they work to improve their connection with themselves, their sexuality, and their relationships with others. He believes relational support and accurate sex education are powerful tools that everyone has a right to access.

Eden is a graduate of the College of Charleston and Thomas Jefferson University and holds degrees in Psychology (B.A.) and Couples & Family Therapy (M.A), with a concentration in Sex Therapy. He is not currently pursuing licensure as therapist and has chosen to divest from the carceral care practices of the mental health industrial complex.

In 2024, Eden established Catawampus Counseling with the hopes of helping marginalized folks across the South navigate the challenges of their relational and sexual lives. Their work incorporates a variety of learning & healing frameworks and is informed by their lived experience as a white, ex-catholic, asexual, kinky, small and temporarily able bodied, transsexual, autistic person born and raised on Sewee and Kusso land. The theoretical frameworks that inform their practice are Trans feminism, Black & Indigenous feminism, anti-capitalism, and liberatory psychology. He is pro-body & anti-diet, pro-femme, pro-SW, and pro-Palestine. He seeks to leverage his privileges as a white settler and deepen the relationship between liberatory theory and practice in all areas of their life. In an effort to remain accountable to their community, feedback around their efforts to do so are welcomed.

In addition to Catawampus Counseling, Eden serves as the programs manager for Below Sea Level Aid, a programming committee member for the New Orleans Pride Center, a peer support group facilitator for the Trans Income Project and co-hosts the Neurodivergent Book Club with Fish in a Tree Nola. When he is not working Eden can be found communing with nature, hosting sex ed trivia nights at their local dive bar, tending to the community garden, floating in the pool, reading, or sharing snacks with their dog and cat.

Peer Support

For individuals in need of one-on-one mental or relational health support. The peer support model honors your autonomy and expertise in your own life.

This work is collaborative, relational, and non-pathologizing. You can expect to integrate systemically informed practices and resources into your network of care to co-create a more supportive experience as you move through life’s challenges.

Areas of focus: LGBTQIA+ issues, grief & loss, identity family development, life transitions, aging, neurodiversity, sex, & body image

Body Doubling

Body doubling is the practice of having a present and energetically focused person share space with someone struggling with certain tasks.

Many neurodivergent people find this to be a low-stakes, supportive way of starting, staying focused on, or completing self managed tasks such as household chores, filling out paperwork, booking appointments over the phone, and more.

Virtual body doubling may be helpful if you struggle to self-manage any of the above tasks. You don’t have to manage alone!

Professional Development

Sex education is available for individuals, those in relationships, families, and larger groups, such as schools or workplaces.

Together we will work to develop an education plan that includes accurate, inclusive, and comprehensive educational materials and access to resources that best support your needs and the needs of your relational systems.

Abortion Doula

  • I work with individuals, families, those in relationships, schools, and professional organizations throughout in the South (AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, VA, and WV).

  • The South as a region is home to many marginalized people who do not have access to comprehensive mental, sexual, and relational health services. As the Blackest and most LGBTQIA+ identifying region, the need for liberatory and non-pathologizing services only grows in a time of increased criminalization, oppression, and gender based violence. People in the South deserve care that understands this broader context and is committed to centering their humanity. As someone born and raised in this region, I understand intimately that no one should have to leave the place they call home to get the care they need.

  • Catawampus Counseling services use the green bottle sliding scale model to prioritize accessible and equitable pricing.

    Hourly rates for peer support, sex education, and body doubling are scaled at: $125/$95/$65/$35
